COP27: SP integrates lectures, panel discussions and bilateral meetings on climate change

The Sao Paulo government will hold a series of presentations at COP27 in Egypt, including lectures, thematic panel discussions, and bilateral meetings. At the events, representatives of the country will demonstrate the efforts of this administration in implementing new public policies for sustainability and environmental conservation.

The country participates in the United Nations Conference on Climate Change through the secretariats of Government, International Relations, Infrastructure and Environment, its companies and agencies – Sabesp and CETESB. The schedule of events and appointments begins on Tuesday (the eighth) and continues until the 16th.

This afternoon, Engineer Monica Porto, Head of ESG at Sabesp, will deliver a lecture at the South Korea Pavilion on expanding investments in enhancing climate resilience.

Tomorrow, the ninth, the Minister of Government, Marcos Pinedo, will participate in the meeting on strategies for Latin American countries to achieve the Paris goals, at 2:30 pm, at the Climate Action Center in Brazil. Then, at 4 p.m., at the same venue, Fernando Choccari, Minister of Infrastructure and the Environment, will speak about the sheer transformation and energy transformation that is taking place in cities.

On November 10 at 2 p.m., Eduardo Trani, Undersecretary for the Environment, spoke about mobilizing climate finance with a focus on adaptation. The session will be held at Euroclima. On November 11, starting at 10:30 a.m., a hybrid event will be held at the Italy Pavilion on climate change adaptation policies at the local and regional levels. Undersecretary Trani will represent the government of Sao Paulo.

Eduardo Trani will also participate in a lecture on Multi-Level Action and Ambition: Implementing the Glasgow Climate Charter. The event will take place on November 12, starting at 1:15 p.m., in the Memphis Space.

On November 14, starting at 12 noon, Sabesp CEO Benedito Braga will be at the Climate Action Center to talk about adapting to water security. Later, at 3:30 p.m., the company will celebrate Water Day on the thematic agenda for COP 27, where the President addressed the theme of presentation and climate change: Adaptation is urgent, at the United Nations pavilion.

Also on that day, Monica Porto, SabSP Lead for Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance, at 1:45pm will speak about the company’s experience in the 2014-2025 water crisis, at the World Bank Group booth. In a parallel event, at 5 pm, at the Sharm el-Sheikh Museum, Cetesb launched the second edition of the São Paulo Environmental Convention book, with success stories now on the climate agenda.

On the 15th, at 11 a.m., in the Water Pavilion, Under Secretary Trani will talk about Water for Biodiversity and Nature-Based Solutions. On the same day, at 3:30pm, in the UK pavilion, he will also speak about the São Paulo State Climate Action Plan, which will be under public consultation in Brazil.

In addition, on the 16th, at 12 noon, he will see me in the multi-level pavilion and he will talk about biodiversity and climate change: from COP27 to COP15 on biodiversity. On November 17, 2:30 p.m., in the Lotus Room, the Sub-Secretary participates in a discussion on the Marrakesh Agreement: Adaptation Plans.
