The UK unemployment rate fell to 3.7% in the first quarter of this year from 3.8% in the previous three months, the National Statistics Office (ONS) said on Tuesday. As a result, the index fell to its lowest level since 1974.
Weekly wages, excluding bonuses, increased by 4.2% year-on-year in the first quarter, but fell by 1.2% in line with inflation.
