Gynecological surgeon Silva Haik provided details about the emergency surgery performed by Alessandra Cariocha on Friday (21). The presenter of the program Fofocalizando on SBT channel removed 17 fibroids. The worst of them was larger than the uterus itself. “They were huge [os tumores]The health professional explained that she is now free of them.

The singer remains hospitalized at Sao Luiz Hospital, in Morumbi, west of Sao Paulo. She is in a semi-intensive unit and is recovering well. The operation lasted more than six hours.

Sylvia commented: “She is in very good condition, and we are waiting for the first 24 hours, because they are the most decisive. We decided to keep her in semi-intensive care for her safety.”

According to the doctor, chief surgeon Fabricio Hayek was able to save Cariocha's uterus, which was her main concern. “It was her dream [manter o órgão]But we never imagined it would be this complicated [a cirurgia]”, he continued.

'Garota da Laje' must now spend some time away from Fofocalizando and Programa do Ratinho to recover:

For her sake, I'll be back tomorrow. But ideal is 15 days. let's talk. She didn't even want to stop working, but she had already planned to make it an elective. [cirurgia marcada com antecedência]. But the bleeding was forced [que o procedimento fosse realizado] today

The problem is common among women of childbearing age. About 80% of them suffer from fibroids in Brazil, according to data from the Brazilian Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecology Societies (Febrasgo). But most of them do not show symptoms.

Only a few cases show increased menstrual flow, often with clots, which can lead to bleeding – as happened with Cariucha. Swelling in the abdominal area, pelvic pain, and increased or decreased frequency of urination are all indicators of fibroids.

In a few cases, it is necessary to remove the uterus (hysterectomy), because it is impossible to heal surgically after removing the tumors.
