    The Ministry of Health and UNA-SUS are promoting two webinars on palliative care – Notícia

    On August 4 and September 1, 2022, the Ministry of Health and the Open University SUS (UNA-SUS) held webinars titled “Palliative Care: A Multidisciplinary Approach”. The goal is to promote discussion on the topic with the participation of experts. The broadcast will be live and free, from 17:00 to 19:00, on Fiocruz Brasília YouTube channel.

    According to the World Health Organization (WHO), palliative care “consists of the assistance provided by a multidisciplinary team, which aims to improve the quality of life of patients and their families, in the face of a life-threatening disease, through prevention and relief. Suffering, early identification, accurate assessment and treatment of pain and other physical, social, psychological, and spiritual symptoms.”

    During the first meeting, on August 4, lecturer TEA and palliative care provider Ines Tavares will present the concepts and philosophy of palliative care. Next, Intensive and Palliative Care Physician Eduardo Berbigier will address the identification of the different stages of palliative care and the importance of prognostic evaluation. Moderation will be performed by Intensive Care and Palliative Care Physicians Rachel Duarte Moretz and Ines Tavares.

    On September 1, the first lecture will be given by anesthesiologist and specialist in acute and chronic pain, João Battista Santos Garcia, who will address the therapeutic approach to pain and shortness of breath in different scenarios. Next, Cognitive Clinical Psychologist and Master in Organization and Development Raquel Push will talk about life cycles and human limitations: how to manage and avoid conflict Burnt From the multidisciplinary team. The Equinox will be conducted by Ines Tavares and Rachel Moretz.

    The event is held by the Ministry of Health, through the Department of Health Education (DEGES), UNA-SUS, Fiocruz Brasília and the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG).
