The Minister of Health, Marcelo Quiroga, landed at Guarulhos International Airport, in São Paulo, on Monday morning (4), after the end of the quarantine in the United States. He will continue his trip to Brasilia.
Quiroga was diagnosed with COVID-19 on August 21, after participating in a series of public engagements with representatives from Brazil and other countries in New York, at the United Nations (UN) General Assembly. The meetings included the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, and the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda.

Arriving at Guarulhos airport this morning, Quiroga spoke briefly with reporters. He said he only developed symptoms at the start of the infection and that his Monday schedule “is sleep.”
Asked about complaints made at CPI’s for Covid, he declined to comment on the matter.
“What worries me is the epidemic, with the epidemic under control. I have been in Parliament twice, and I have given all the explanations. What we were doing in the ministry, everyone can see, with the epidemic under control. I am always available to all institutions from Brazil and above all from the Brazilian people And I’m sure I’m doing my job by helping the Brazilians overcome this health difficulty.”
A file prepared by the doctors and former chief doctors at Prevent indicates that the actions of the company investigated by CPI are the result of an agreement between the company’s owners – brothers Eduardo and Fernando Barrillo – and the government of President Jair Bolsonaro.

And the minister announced, on Sunday (3), that the results of his examination are negative for the disease, and that he should return to Brazil on Monday.
Queiroga posted on a social network: “My new RT-PCR test was negative for Covid-19. I will be back in BR soon! Thank you to everyone who sent positive feedback. Let’s go!”
Quiroga remained in isolation in the United States, where he traveled with President Jair Bolsonaro. The president went to New York to participate in the United Nations General Assembly.

After Quiroga was diagnosed, and back in Brazil, Representative Eduardo Bolsonaro (PSL-SP) and Caixa President Pedro Guimarães also tested positive for the virus.
The minister has already been vaccinated with two doses of the coronavirus vaccine. Until returning to Brazil, the portfolio’s executive secretary, Rodrigo Cruz, continued to work for the Ministry of Health as an alternate minister.
