Technology can play a major role in developing mobility and contributing to preserving the environment. These were the results of two studies commissioned by Hyundai to explore the future desires of children and adults in the UK.
Among children, electric cars capable of self-charging and public transportation to space are among the greatest desires. The research was conducted on 1,000 children between the ages of 6 and 10 years.
Mobility technology passes through independent charging
Among the respondents, seven out of 10 respondents (or 72% of them) would like to see an electric vehicle able to charge its batteries independently.
Just over half (51%) of children remember the flying car, while 17% of children dream of going into space by public transport. Teleportation, school buses and robots were also mentioned.
For 65% of respondents, technology can improve the world, with 59% believing that inventions can help build things and 56% believing that technology will be useful for learning.
Adults want more movement
The South Korean company also wanted to know what adults think about the future: 51% of the parents of children surveyed believe that technological innovations are fundamental to the progress of society.
Another study of 2,000 adults residing in the United Kingdom indicates that technological advances can positively impact scientific research and advances in health, business and education.
Nearly two-thirds (or 62%) of Brits admit that technology plays an important role in everyday personal mobility. For 38% of respondents, new technologies can be applied in the development of transportation and mobility.
Like children, adults were also asked what technologies they would like to see in cities in the coming decades. Robots, self-driving vehicles, airplanes, and artificial intelligence were among the most common responses.
