Non-melanoma skin cancer is the most common cancer in Brazil. It corresponds to 31.3% of cases, according to data from the INCA (National Cancer Institute).

skin cancer: It is important to note moles on the body – any brown or black mole that changes colour, shape or size, itches and/or bleeds should be evaluated by a dermatologist.

Other than skin cancer: This is the most common, and is divided into two types, according to the tissue in which it arises, the most common of which is basal cell carcinoma. It usually appears on areas exposed to the sun, such as the face, ears, neck, scalp, shoulders, and back. It usually appears as a red spot or papule that bleeds easily and does not heal, resulting in a persistent wound. The second is squamous cell carcinoma, which arises from the squamous cells of the skin and is also more common in areas exposed to the sun. It tends to affect men more than women and appears as wart-like lesions, which can bleed. These lesions can form crusts and small wounds that do not heal.

If you have any doubts about a mole or spot, see a doctor as soon as possible. Early diagnosis helps save lives and prevents the disease from affecting other areas of the body.
