According to the Municipal Health Department, cases of the disease have increased by 221% this year, compared to the same period last year. As of Thursday, the eighth of this month, Franca had recorded 420 cases of the disease.
On this first day, the smoker will serve the neighborhoods of Jardim Angela Rosa and part of Jardim Noemia, in the south of the city. Work will begin at 6 p.m.
The surveillance asks residents of these neighborhoods to take some precautions, such as storing or covering food, household items, and clothes hanging on ropes. Covering animal feeders, waterers and bird cages is also recommended. Also protect bedding and tablecloths.
It is also recommended to open doors and windows to facilitate the entry of the insecticide. People need to stay home while agents are working. If there are sick or bedridden people, they should remain inside the room with doors and windows closed, for up to 30 minutes after fumigation is applied.
