Casa Amarela receives food baskets distribution on Friday

Families of the Casa Amarilla community, in the northern region of Recife, on Friday (17) will receive a food basket distributed by the G10 Favelas, a bloc of leaders and entrepreneurs who work in favelas across Brazil. 500 baskets will be delivered to the socially vulnerable population through the Campaign Against Hunger Ambassadors, in Rua Aurel de Holland, 1263. More information can be obtained at the website: www.g10favelas.com.br.

The work will be organized in a place with sufficient space to serve the beneficiary families, while respecting the guidelines of the pandemic context. According to Gelson Rodriguez, president of G10 Favelas, with unemployment increasing in the country, many families are unable to buy food this Christmas. “The moment of the pandemic requires solidarity and support for families who are starving. We want to offer a dignified Christmas to all.”

Other actions integrated into the G10 Favelas also receive donations with the distribution of food and hygiene products. The campaign “Ambassadors for Christmas Without Hunger” was recently launched with the aim of collecting 100,000 basic food baskets and distributing them to local communities in Brazil.

During 2021, the G10 slums implemented measures to mitigate the effects of COVID-19. In the Casa Amarilla district, more than 2,000 thousand families have been provided with food baskets and more food is being collected.

Another G10 Favelas action slated to take place in Recife is the launch of the G10 Business Acceleration Hub, scheduled for the first quarter of 2022.

About G10 of the slum

The G10 favelas is a bloc of social impact leaders and entrepreneurs from slums that, like the rich countries of the G7 (Germany, Canada, the United States, France, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom), have joined forces in favor of economic development and these urban areas.

Like the large economic blocs, the G10 holds regular meetings and terms of cooperation so that data is collected, proposed actions monitored, and the real social impact and growth of the bloc and its partners measured.
