British humanitarian organization Save the Children and Vrije Universiteit in Belgium published the report: “Generation of Hope: 2.4 billion reasons to end the global climate crisis”, which collects the opinions of 54,000 children.

According to the report, 774 million children worldwide are affected by at least one severe weather event.

South Sudan is one of the countries with the highest number of children at risk, as it does not have sufficient capacity to protect itself from both the climate crisis and poverty.

While 87% of children in South Sudan feel the impact of these two crises, this country is followed by the Central African Republic with 85% and Mozambique with 80%.

The country with the largest number of children living in poverty and affected by the climate crisis is India with 223 million children, followed by Nigeria with 58 million children and Ethiopia with 36 million children.

According to the report, which indicates that 28 million children in rich countries and 121 million children in high-income countries face these two phenomena, two-fifths of these children, about 12 million, live in the United States of America (USA). United kingdom.

In addition to these two phenomena, 183 million children in the world are at risk of conflict.

63% of children in Brunei, 55% of children in Afghanistan and 41% of children in the Central African Republic face all three threats. The report claims that the climate crisis and inequality are exacerbating these problems.
