In 30 days, the city of São Paulo recorded 3,344 cases of dengue fever, according to the Arbovirus Epidemiological Bulletin issued on Monday (5). So far there are no confirmed deaths. Three deaths are under investigation.

As of January 22, there were 1,792 cases of the disease in the capital, meaning that in eight days, São Paulo saw 1,552 new cases of dengue fever.

The administrative region of Itaquera in the east is the region with the highest number of cases: 337 with an infection coefficient of 157.8. This criterion is used by the Ministry of Health to classify the disease in relation to the population.

This is followed by Jaguara in the western region with 203 cases and 854.4 infections, and Campo Limbo in the southern region with 206 cases and 88.4 infections.

To arrive at the index, simply multiply the number of new cases by 100,000 and divide it by the total population living in the area. The index shows the risk of the population contracting the disease and the likelihood of new cases emerging.

The municipal health department said in a statement that it has intensified measures to combat the Aedes aegypti mosquito in the city, including spraying insecticides from Sunday to Sunday.

On the Dengue Victory Day, held last Saturday (3), about 125,000 home visits were carried out, nebulization operations were carried out in 1,200 buildings and guidance was provided to more than 85,000 people.

The ministry also introduced a new measure to combat the disease: a drone to use larvicide in hard-to-reach areas in order to eliminate mosquito breeding sites. Aedes aegypti.

Still, according to the Secretariat, this year there were 454.2 thousand prevention measures Aedes aegypti In 2023, there were 5.3 million actions, such as house-to-house visits, property inspections, measures to block breeding sites and fog, and population orientation, among others.
