Information from a spokesperson for the European regulator; The body expects Meta to comply with the data protection rules of the block

Meta is not expected to release Threads for European Union (EU) countries anytime soon. The information was provided on Tuesday (July 4, 2023) by a spokesperson CPD (abbreviation in English for the Data Protection Commission) of Ireland, which regulates the topic in the block, according to the Irish newspaper independent.

The app developed by Instagram to compete with Twitter receipt Monday (July 3, 2023) on the US App Store for pre-download. According to the Irish publication, the release is being held on Thursday (July 6) in the US and UK, where privacy laws are more lenient.

According to the Irish newspaper, DPC has not permanently banned the app, but is waiting for Meta to launch the service in accordance with EU data protection laws. The Irish regulator has already blocked the company from launching WhatsApp advertising services in the European Union.

Even as a standalone app, Themes will be partially integrated with Instagram. Followers of the Instagram profile will receive a notification to follow the new account on the adjacent platform.

The platform will inform users that it will collect a variety of data — such as information related to health, finances, browsing, search history, location, purchases, and contacts — for the new app.
