Presenter Celso Portioli, 55, reassured fans After being taken to a hospital in Sao Paulo yesterday. He is currently undergoing treatment for bladder cancer.

In a video posted to Instagram Stories, he said he is recovering well. “I woke up well and slept well, and my health is excellent, thank God,” he said.

Due to health issues, Portioli had to miss this year’s Telethon. However, he said he was “happy” with the programme, which has received more than R$34 million in donations, according to SBT.

“I am happy with the artists who participated in Telethon. Congratulations to all,” he said. “I am happy with the result and also with my recovery because I am already a ‘zeradinho’.”

Yesterday, Portioli informed fans that he is undergoing immunotherapy, a cancer treatment that aims to combat the progression of the disease by activating the patient’s immune system. According to the presenter, this is already the third week of treatment.

“My bladder was very responsive to the treatment, [mas] I had to go to the hospital to take care of the effects, because they were very inflamed. So these next three days I will have to stay in the hospital to relieve symptoms and treat them now.”
