    United Kingdom – Stocks closed the session higher and the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 Index rose 0.03%, according to Investing.com

    Investing.com – United Kingdom equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and , and sectors propelled shares higher.

    By London's close, the index was up 0.03%.

    The best performers of the session on the index came from stocks JD Sports Fashion PLC ( LON: ), which rose 10.69% or 13.70 points to trade at 141.85 at the close of trade. Meanwhile, stocks Tesco PLC ( LON: ) added 2.00% or 6.80 points to end the day at 346.60 and Frasers Group PLC ( LON: ), which was up 1.90% or 16.00 points to trade at 860.00.

    The worst performers of the session were stocks Legal and public Group plc (LON: ), which declined 2.81% or 6.50 points to trade at 224.50 at the close. Glencore PLC (LON: ) declined 1.94% or 8.00 points to end at 405.30, and Anglo American PLC (LON: ) was down 1.80% or 41.00 points to 2,236.50.

    On the London Stock Exchange, gainers outnumbered decliners by 882 to 829, while 757 ended unchanged.

    Tesco plc (LON: ) shares surge to 5-year high; 2.00% or 6.80 up to 346.60.

    Gold futures for December delivery were down 1.12%, or 28.60, at $2,518.90 a troy ounce. In other commodities, crude oil for October delivery rose 1.92%, or 1.38, to settle at $73.31 a barrel, while Brent crude futures for October delivery rose 1.89%, or 1.44, to trade at $77.49 a barrel.

    GBP/USD was unchanged 0.01% at 1.31 and EUR/GBP was up 0.34% at 0.85.

    Dollar futures were down 0.43% at 101.35.
