The United Kingdom has suspended publicly funded research and innovation cooperation between Russian universities and institutions on matters of strategic benefit to the Russian government.

The London government has indicated that its aim is to introduce measures that could have a negative impact on individuals and organizations with strong ties to the Russian government and the Kremlin. However, it is not intended to allow individual Russian scientists or inventors interested in harmless research.

Measures taken by the UK include suspending all funding for UK research projects with a Russian dimension and non-funding of new joint ventures with Russia through UK research and innovation agencies.
