“Creating a national rail corridor by the end of the first half of the major political priorities,” he refers to the trusteeship, in a written response sent today to the Lusa Agency.

After months of government commitment to move the measure forward this year, the Ministry of Infrastructure adds that this pass, which will be “valid on all regional trains circulating on the national rail network,” was “an approved measure in specialization in the state’s 2023 budget.” [OE2023] The monthly cost will be 49 euros.

Last November, the government undertook to create, by the end of the second quarter of 2023, a national rail pass for regional trains, worth €49, according to the Livre proposal approved at the time.

The proposal called for the government, along with transport authorities, to submit a study by the end of the third quarter of 2023 on ways in which the National Rail Corridor could be extended to other classes of rail service.

The same study, according to the proposal approved within the scope of the 2023 state budget vote, should consider revising the tariffs for railway services covered by public service obligations, which provide for their simplification.
