Onyx, a curious and cheerful boy, had a perfect day with his father. The two are enjoying the moment at a local playground, when the kid sees some kind of strand of hair on the sidewalk. He was surprised and asked his father to find out what it was.
As the two approached, the strand of hair seemed to move slowly, making them even more curious. After all, what creature could move like this, have such properties and be so small?
Jake, Onyx’s father, said in an interview with the news portal Dodo Adventure details. “We had no idea what it was until we got closer,” he revealed.
When they finally got close to each other they understood what it was all about. Father and son realized the lump was actually a baby opossum. The little boy seemed alone and in danger of getting hurt.

Once the initial magic was over, a huge worry arose: What would they do with the puppy? How will they help him stay away from his mother?
“We watched the opossum for about 5 minutes. Then we realized it was very young and should probably be with its mother. That’s when we decided to take action.”
Jake knew the opossum needed special care, so he contacted Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue and shared a photo of the baby opossum.
Wildlife experts agreed with father and son: The cub should not be left alone. With precise instructions in hand, Jake and Onyx carefully picked up the small object and placed it in a clean bag located nearby.

With pup in hand, Jake and Onyx set off on a journey that will change the little opossum’s life. As the opossum settled into the bag, its curious eyes began to open, as if it knew it was safe.
Once they arrived at the rescue shelter, the hungry pup received the food and care he needed. While he recovers, he will remain under the rescue’s care until he is strong enough to return to the jungle, his true home.
Thanks to the quick thinking and brave actions of Denniston and his son, this mysterious and adorable pup has been given a second chance.
