Wembley, United Kingdom, 11 July 2021 (AFP) – A tropical, festive match will take place this Sunday afternoon around Wembley Stadium, where the European Cup final between Italy and England will take place. Fight (16:00 GMT), throwing objects, finds an AFP journalist.

Thousands of English fans had gathered around the stadium since Sunday morning, some of whom, already under the influence of alcohol, began throwing stones, beer cans, backbones or signal cones in the direction people were passing.

At least three Italian fans were attacked during the riot, although a large number of police were stationed near the stadium.

Most Italian fans entered the stadium before the riot with tickets to watch the final.

Pedestrian access roads to the grounds were covered with debris and broken glass from bottles.

On Twitter, London police asked fans not to go to Wembley if they did not have a ticket because the area is “too busy”.

Another AFP journalist discovered that several trains full of fans were leaving Wembley for central London and following big screens across the English capital.
