Strike paralyzes UK’s biggest port

Workers at the UK’s largest container port began an eight-day strike on Sunday, which could affect trade and supply chains in the region.

Around 2,000 workers in Felixstowe, on England’s east coast, are locked in a pay dispute, becoming the latest workers to strike in Britain. Unions demand higher wages amid cost-of-living crisis

“This strike will cause major disruption and will create huge shock waves throughout the UK supply chain, but this dispute is entirely of the company’s own making,” said Bobby Morton, the national docks director of the Unite union. “The company had every opportunity to make a fair offer to our members, but chose not to.”
