Prince Harry’s former military instructor dramatizes parts of royal biography – 1/22/2023

Overrated? In his autobiography What’s Left, Prince Harry described a dramatic moment when he performed a military training flight and described the experience as suicidal. However, the Duke of Sussex’s tutor, who sat next to him on the plane, revealed in an interview with the Sunday Mirror that the story didn’t go as it was told at work.

In the book, King wrote that an instructor intentionally piloted his aircraft with a Slingsby T67 Firefly and stopped without warning. Former Sergeant Michael Pooley said all details of the training flights were discussed in advance.

– I was shocked by this. Really shocked. Although the book flatters me, my memory of the raids and lessons is not accurate, I’m afraid. It is important to point out that there is nothing surprising about the cockpit. Every aspect of every category is carefully briefed beforehand. Sorting is done correctly according to this summary. When emergencies are introduced, there are only surprises in the syllabus later, not as stated in the book. Engine failures are practiced before the first solo, in case a student is injured.

He questioned parts of the work that attributed John Joseph Mohringer as a ghostwriter:

– I think the reference to flights is dramatized. I think this is the result of ghost writing. I didn’t call him Lt. Wales, he was an officer, I called him Sir.

Michael still thinks highly of Harry and ends with a compliment:

– He is an exceptional student, very talented. He is a friend and a man I respect a lot and he is always there for me.
