Front of Health has been reintroduced with an emphasis on SUS advocacy and a sector and community engagement structure

The Joint Parliamentary Health Front (FPMS), the main representation of parliamentarians on the subject in the National Congress, has been reintroduced to the House of Representatives Governing Council, with the aim of advocating for quality, universal and integrated access to health, primarily while strengthening a unified health system. To coordinate the functioning of the Parliamentary Front, the Brazilian Institute of Health and Pharmaceutical Aid, Queda Brasil, will assume the executive secretariat. The Executive Secretary of the Institute, Dr. Gustavo Perez, spoke about the importance of the health front in strengthening the sector in the country.

Principles and objectives

Among the objectives defended by the Health Front, the SUS as a guarantee of health as a right of citizenship, while strengthening its budget, improving legislation, inspecting and controlling the actions of the executive power, stimulating the creation and strengthening of councils, funds and information systems, among others.

“Transforming into a living and tangible reality for the Brazilian people, doctrinal and constitutional principles that understand health as the most valuable asset in life, an inalienable social right and the greatest responsibility of the state,” brings the FPMS Statutes. In the principles, the initiative also includes:

decentralized management with shared responsibility between the entities of the federation;
