England's T20 World Cup Final should be on Open TV, says Joss Butler

Jose Butler wants the T20 World Cup Final against Pakistan on Sunday to be shown on TV in the UK.

Sky Sports is the exclusive UK TV rights holder for the tournament, but the satellite broadcaster in recent years has shared some major sporting events with terrestrial channels.

In 2019, England’s 50-win World Cup Final was simultaneously broadcast on Sky and Channel 4, drawing a viewership peak of 8.3 million and there are hopes a similar deal could be reached in the final this weekend.

“I would be very happy with that,” Butler said after defeating his Indian side in Adelaide to set up a match against Pakistan at the MCG.

“It would be great for the game in our country. The number of eyes we could get in this final would be fantastic. It would be great if that happened.

“It is important that we always look for ways to develop our game and offer cricket especially to the next generation. I really hope that is possible.”
