Arts and their relationship to public space

MAR – Street Art Fair returns to Sines from 15-17 September, with around 26 art projects from Portugal, Spain, France, Finland, UK and Lithuania.

A project directed and artistically produced by Teatro do Mar, co-produced by Sines City Council and supported by DGArtes/Ministério da Cultura, MAR 2023 presents performances and creations from circus, dance, installation, music, theatre, puppetry, multidisciplinary and DJ September.

In MAR 2023, art once again occupies the streets, the historical heritage and the landscape, valuing the area, restoring its meaning and creating new perspectives for the city and those who inhabit it.

For Julieta Aurora Santos, Artistic Director of MAR, “Public space has always been a scenario of resistance and transformation. In a world evolving rapidly, aggressively, towards a selfish vision that rejects open, inclusive and flexible thinking, it is the imperative of art as a link and creation, the enjoyment of public space, the choice of it as a place Distinguished for meeting and sharing, building relationships and memory.

The Teatro do Mar March 2023 is dedicated to Ana Bio, clown, anthropologist and activist (1973-2023): “We celebrate her memory, on behalf of all women clowns in the world, in her noble quest to touch everyone’s hearts and create art and smiles.” “.
