Of the 4,792,411 doses of dengue vaccine distributed in Brazil, 2,085,613 doses were registered in the system and thus effectively applied to children and adolescents aged 10 to 14, the specific target audience for the campaign. The Ministry of Health presented these figures on Thursday (29), during a meeting of the Tripartite Inter-Directoral Committee, in Brasilia.

He added: “We have approximately five million doses of the vaccine distributed during this period.” [até 21/8]. there delay Regarding the registration of doses applied. In fact, this figure is much higher than about 2.1 million. These figures are updated weekly,” highlighted the Deputy Secretary of the Health Surveillance Secretariat, Rivaldo Venancio.

In total, the ministry has selected 1,921 municipalities to receive doses of the Codinga vaccine produced by Japanese pharmaceutical company Takeda. The selection was necessary due to the limited amount of vaccines that will be provided by the manufacturing laboratory. The cities included in 2024, according to the ministry, include health zones classified as endemic for the disease.

Although the Qdenga publication refers to the dose for people aged 4 to 60, the ministry specified that in the Unified Health System (SUS), the target audience would initially only include children and adolescents aged 10 to 14. This is the group with the highest number of hospitalizations due to dengue, second only to the elderly. The decision was prompted by the low supply of available doses.
