One person has died in the UK, due to an outbreak of E. coli bacteria that is taking over the country.
The information was revealed by the UK Department of Health, and was reported by the BBC, explaining that the person died in May and had other related medical conditions.
The UK is experiencing an E. coli outbreak, with 275 confirmed cases as of 25 June.
Data from 249 cases revealed that 49% of them had to be admitted to hospital units, according to the BBC.
The outbreak reportedly originated from some supermarket sandwiches, wraps and salads. Many brands have already removed their products from shelves as a precaution.
Escherichia coli (E. coli) is a group of bacteria that normally live in the intestines of healthy people and animals. Some are harmless, but others can cause serious illness. Symptoms include severe and sometimes bloody diarrhea, stomach cramps, vomiting, and fever. Symptoms usually appear a few days after infection.
Most people recover well, but some people, especially children, can become seriously ill.
