Gina Morgan, 76, almost A fraud victim After thinking he was talking to the actor Robert De Niro, in the United Kingdom. The accused tried to get money using the image of the artist. The hoax was only noticed after the elderly woman's granddaughter, Shannon Rich, discovered the exchange of messages and alerted her.

The story begins when Shannon records a video for her TikTok profile. On the platform, the young woman regularly posts communications with her grandmother, who always has a ready answer to questions. This time, the elderly woman said she was talking to Robert De Niro through a Facebook profile.

“It's not Robert De Niro,” Shannon says. “So who is it?” the old woman asks angrily.

The woman believed she was talking to him through Facebook messages. The granddaughter helped unmask the fraudster

Shannon approaches and asks to see the messages, and Gina points out that the conversation was too long. The accused actor sent the photos and claimed to have created the account to be “closer to his fans”.

According to the American newspaper NY Post, the scammer offers the elderly woman the chance to get a “VIP fan card,” which promises exclusive conversations, videos and phone calls, and even a visit from the actor, if she pays US$500 (about R$2,558, current quote). Of course it's all fake.

In an interview with the newspaper, Shannon said she believed her grandmother would have realized it was a scam without her warning. Because, according to her granddaughter, Gina was already suspicious of the photos. “Some people are worried about her online, but my grandmother is smart enough not to reveal personal details,” he said.
