For the first time in 2023, the PlayStation 5 is not the best-selling console in the UK. After four months in the lead, Sony’s console looked ahead of the Nintendo Switch.
In its seventh year of life, the Nintendo Switch received one of the best games and according to GFk, shared by Chris Dring from GI.biz, May was a big month for the console, with special help from Game The Game. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Despite this first place, Nintendo Switch sales are 8% lower than 2022 sales when comparing the first 5 months of each year.
Tring added that the PS5 is set to become the best-selling console in the UK in 2023, surpassing the combined sales of the Nintendo Switch and Xbox series.
The PS5’s four-month reign as the UK’s No.1 console ended in May, leaving the Switch as No.1. Nintendo’s console fell just 8% from what it did in the first 5 months of last year. But the Switch launch schedule is a bit lighter later in the year (GfK data).
