On Tuesday (9/5), Education Minister Camilo Santana signed a letter of cooperation with the University of Birmingham in London. The British Foundation promotes studies on Brazil. The Chairman of the MEC has been in England since yesterday, on the occasion of the Global Education Forum 2023.
The document provides for the establishment of a Brazilian institute within the university. “The Ministry of Education of Brazil and the University of Birmingham intend to deepen collaborative efforts with the aim of establishing a Brazilian Institute at the University of Birmingham, establishing chairs in Brazil and promoting exchange programs for teachers and students, as well as other initiatives in the field of education,” says an excerpt.
Brazil has resumed educational exchanges between the two countries, through agreements. The latest contract was signed during President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT)’s trip to Spain and Portugal. This is part of rebuilding the image that the country wants to build on the international scene.
“Coordination between the Ministry of Education of Brazil is a fundamental task. We will work to strengthen and expand education in the country. I assure that Brazil has returned. It has returned to dialogue horizontally and democratically with the whole world. It has returned to sharing a common learning space with other countries,” the minister said in The plenary session of the event.
The theme of this year’s edition of the Global Education Forum is “How are international trends in education changing and how is education being shaped? How do education systems respond to such changes?” Camilo added: “We want to learn from international experiences, and learn about these lessons that have already been experienced in other regions and interact with it.”
