The Joint Parliamentary Health Front (FPMS), the main representation of parliamentarians on the subject in the National Congress, has been reintroduced to the House of Representatives Governing Council, with the aim of advocating for quality, universal and integrated access to health, primarily while strengthening a unified health system. The initiative of the federal deputy d. Zacharias Calil (União/GO) and will incorporate a structure that will bring society closer to parliamentarians in building a strong legislative agenda and consensus.

“Health is one of the main topics for the Brazilian population. Therefore, it should be a priority in Congress and this parliamentary front appears to meet this demand. We will work tirelessly for the good health of Brazilians, especially when we talk about SUS,” said the FPMS president. The front will have thematic committees A group of parliamentarians and representatives of the entities that make up the sector to support the formulation of proposals and guide the work of the legislature.

To coordinate the functioning of the Parliamentary Front, the Brazilian Institute of Health and Pharmaceutical Aid, Queda Brasil, will assume the executive secretariat. The Executive Secretary of the Institute, Dr. Gustavo Perez, spoke about the importance of the health front in strengthening the sector in the country.

For this reason, the pillars of the FMPS are SUS-shaped organization, decentralized management and shared responsibility, comprehensive citizen care, community participation, resources guaranteed by the three spheres of government and that every citizen is equal Before SUS”, Pires listed.

Principles and objectives

Among the objectives defended by the Health Front, the SUS as a guarantee of health as a right of citizenship, while strengthening its budget, improving legislation, inspecting and controlling the actions of the executive power, stimulating the creation and strengthening of councils, funds and information systems, among others.

“Transforming into a living and tangible reality for the Brazilian people, doctrinal and constitutional principles that understand health as the most valuable asset in life, an inalienable social right and the greatest responsibility of the state,” brings the FPMS Statutes. In the principles, the initiative also includes:

healthcare organization in the form of SUS;
decentralized management with shared responsibility between the entities of the federation;
comprehensive service to citizens;
Community participation;
health care is free for the private sector;
resources guaranteed by the three domains of governance;
Every citizen is equal before the SUS.
