    Germany and the United Kingdom on Wednesday intercepted three Russian fighter jets on a reconnaissance mission over the Baltic Sea, the German Air Force announced.

    “The spy planes were intercepted. [Caças] German and British Eurofighters were alerted to spot three military aircraft,” the German Air Force wrote on Twitter.

    Germany and the United Kingdom participate in monitoring the airspace of the Baltic states within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). On April 17, a similar interception had already occurred.

    On Tuesday (25), the Norwegian military said two Russian Tu-160 Blackjack strategic bombers, two Il-78 Midas tankers and three MiG-31 Foxhound fighter jets were spotted in the airspace as part of a NATO mission. The Barents Sea lies north of Norway and Russia.
