A memorandum to maintain a partnership on climate action and carbon dioxide reduction strategies was re-signed this Monday morning (24) between the Government of Minas Gerais and representatives of the UK Government at the Palacio Tradentes in the Ciudad Administrativa.
On renewing the partnership between governments, Jema highlighted measures to reduce gas emissions and deforestation in Minas Gerais without harming production.
“Today, Minas has the conditions to increase its agricultural production without cutting down trees, using technology or restoring degraded areas, which is already done by producers. This means that in the coming years we will have more production without harming the environment and restoring areas”, he said.
Ambassador of the United Kingdom, Stephanie Al-Khaq, praised the state government’s actions and promised more such actions for the future of intergovernmental cooperation.
“Brazil is a country that is changing the world for the better. But we need people with courage and leadership, who are capable of taking on difficult tasks. When Governor Romeu Jama accepted the pledge of Race to Zero, it was a very important decision that showed the people that it is people like you who will lead the changes of the future. This partnership with the Government of Minas has already brought about important things, and we will do more in the future. You can count on the participation of the United Kingdom,” he added.
