A 40-year-old female doctor was arrested after a fetus was found stored in a plastic container in her home, in Baruri, in the metropolitan area of São Paulo, on Thursday (2) noon.

According to the information received from the Civil Police contact, the police officers received a complaint and found a black pot with a transparent lid wrapped in plastic bags in a part of the woman’s room.

Opening the jar, the agents find that it contains an aborted fetus wrapped in some bloodstained clothes. The surgeon, the owner of the property, was taken to Barweri Central Police Station to provide explanations.

According to delegate Andreas Schiffmann, she said while testifying that she had a miscarriage in October last year. Since then, the doctor has kept the fetus in the bedroom closet.

The woman also told the police that she was unaware of the need to notify the authorities of the body.

On Thursday afternoon, the IML (Medical-Legal Institute) police were at the doctor’s apartment and were investigating the alleged crimes she had committed. One of them left his fetus inside a small coffin.

The case should be registered as a body concealment at the Barweri Central Police Station, which will be in charge of the investigation.
