Experts surveyed 9,902 adults over the age of 50 from countries including Brazil, the United Kingdom, the United States, Italy, Spain, Germany, France, Canada and Japan.

According to the survey, 88% of respondents received at least one dose of an immune system booster against COVID-19. This number drops dramatically when it comes to other illnesses – for example, only 56% have received a flu shot at any time in the past five years.

As for the pneumonia vaccination, only 14% responded. Herpes zoster reaches a lower number, only 10%.

Despite the issue of vaccinations, 81% of respondents said they had had a routine check-up in the past five years. In Brazil, this percentage was even higher, reaching 89%.

The study also provided observations about the role of health professionals in raising awareness of immunity. 71% of respondents consider these professionals a primary source of information.

With this, the team also heard from 685 health professionals from the same countries. Among these professionals, 72% say they typically tell their patients that they are in the recommended age range for a vaccine, and 74% would warn of an increased risk of infectious diseases due to their age group.
