Family members rushed to stand by Queen Elizabeth after doctors said on Thursday they were concerned about the health of the 96-year-old British monarch, saying she should remain under medical supervision.

The United Kingdom’s longest-reigning ruler and world’s largest monarch has been suffering from what Buckingham Palace called “episodic mobility issues” since late last year.

“Following further assessment this morning, doctors are concerned about the health of Elizabeth II and have recommended that she remain under observation,” the palace said in a statement.

“The Queen is still rested and in Balmoral,” the note adds.

His eldest son and heir Prince Charles and his wife Camilla have traveled to the Scottish home where the Queen is staying at Balmoral Castle with Charles’ eldest son Prince William, officials said. There are also other family members gathered there.

On Wednesday, the Queen was forced to cancel a virtual meeting with ministers after her doctors advised her to rest.

The day before, she was photographed naming Liz Truss the country’s new Prime Minister at her Scottish home, Balmoral Castle.

Truss said the entire country was deeply concerned by the news.

“My thoughts – and those of people across the UK – are with Her Majesty and her family at this time,” he said.

Last October, Elizabeth spent a night in the hospital and has since had to cut back on her public engagements.

Elizabeth has been Queen of the United Kingdom and more than a dozen other countries since 1952. Earlier this year, she celebrated the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne.
