
Researcher Pisci Bruja is a guest on Monday (05), in the column “Sit here, with Marina Vergerio”. Pisci, defined as a transvestite, is a person living with HIV, a preventive health representative in the STI/AIDS coordination in São Paulo and in Casa Chama.
In addition to being an activist, Pisci Bruja is a sexologist from the University of São Paulo, a community educator and researcher at the University of the South Pacific School of Medicine, also a member of the Loka Collective of Efavirenz and harm reduction worker for Project Respire, by É de Lei non-governmental organizations.
Pisci Bruja Garcia de Oliveira’s career began in the fields of humanities – she earned a degree in social sciences, went to the Sorbonne in Paris, and became a master’s in social anthropology.
What she could not have imagined when she began her graduation at Unicamp (University of Campinas) in 2009 is that after years she would be working in the health field, as a researcher at Hospital das Clinicas, School of Medicine, University of the South Pacific.
The turning point in his career was the positive diagnosis of HIV, at the age of 24: “My diagnosis changed me, it changed my views. If I ever wanted to be a diplomat, I found myself mired in health issues and in conflicts that We have to face it in order to get treatment in the public order.”
