The entities stated that they met with US politicians, members of the US State Department, ambassadors from the Organization of American States and members of the US House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Relations.
In these conversations, the Brazilian delegation presented the Americans with baseless, unproven, and actually denied President Jair Bolsonaro’s attacks on the electoral system, especially on electronic voting machines.
The entities also asked their interlocutors in the United States to acknowledge the credibility of the Brazilian electoral system and the results of the elections, whoever wins, in order not to leave room for groundless objections.

The trip took place between 24 and 29, a week after Bolsonaro rounded up foreign ambassadors stationed in Brasilia to defame, again without evidence, the Brazilian electoral system.
In the following days, the US and UK embassies in Brasilia issued memos promoting confidence in the Brazilian elections and the elections, which were considered a defeat for Bolsonaro.
According to the delegation that traveled to the United States, the reaction of the Americans was along the lines of what embassies had adopted: recognition of the legitimacy of the regime in Brazil.
“American interlocutors were particularly sensitive to this issue, given the recent memory of attacks on democracy by former President Donald Trump, when he questioned the American electoral system and worked to block diplomacy for the winner, the incumbent president,” the delegation said in a statement, “Joe Biden.”
Among the support received, the entities highlighted the support of Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders and Democratic Representative Jimmy Raskin.
“At all times we have found an attentive and anxious listening. At many moments, we have immediately received public manifestations of support for Brazilian democracy, as in the case of the statements of Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Jimmy Raskin, whose words have reached great public repercussions in Brazil.”
Some of the entities that formed the entourage are human rights organizations, and feminist organizations associated with the black movement and the environment, such as Greenpeace and the Marielle Franco Institute.
