The Sun, himself the star king, established his definitive address in Vila Madalena, a neighborhood west of São Paulo, in August of last year.

The house underwent an interior and exterior renovation to welcome the star king and was named Marley Matsumoto of Contemporary Art.
Marli Matsumoto Arte Contemporânea is an art gallery that opened its doors outside the already well-known circuit of Jardins, the city center and Villa Maddalena itself.
This project by historian and gallery owner Marley Matsumoto isn’t just her own art gallery, it’s an art space. It is not just about individual work, it is work that opens up and welcomes the group. For example, he invited Rita Mourao, University of Artists’ Books and author of Projeto Desapê, to take care of / occupy a beautiful bookcase located in one of the rooms.
The programming schedule of Marli Matsumoto Arte Contemporânea already includes five exhibitions, the release of an illustrated version by young artist Camille Spruiser of the classic Macunaíma, by Mário de Andrade, within the centenary celebrations of Modern Art Week 1922, and the performance of “The Body on the Edge of Crisis” by Eli de Bernardini.
This icy autumn in São Paulo, the star king doesn’t stop to shine or warm up everyone who visits his home, Marli Matsumoto Arte Contemporânea, as the SOL exhibition, curated by London-based Brazilian artist, Alexandre da Cunha, is on display.
SOL Gallery is a call to freedom, it is an invitation to wander gently in the rooms and garden and among 48 works by 24 artists, where the curatorial approach prevails in the selection of yellow works.
It is an invitation to admire the conversation between Alexandre Canonico, an artist from São Paulo from Pirassununga, who has been residing in the UK for over 20 years, with Maciej Babinski, a Polish who emigrated to Brazil in 1953, where he still lives and aka the deceased Francisco da Silva.
This fun conversation includes two paintings, oil on canvas, one by Babinski, the other by Francisco da Silva, both works done using spray paint on melamine MDF – a plastic compound used in furniture making – by Alexandre Canonico.
When Francisco da Silva painted the picture, Creative Dick, in 1972, Alexander Canonico was not born, and Babinsky already had an impressive biography.
