Apex Legends is definitely one of the best Battle Royale games out there, so it’s good to see it finally make its way to mobile phones and tablets. After the release of Apex Legends Mobile was recently delayed due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, developer Respawn has set a new launch date for the mobile device. Apex Legends Mobile is available for Android and iOS, with a March 7 release date and midnight PST release time. However, unfortunately, the initial release will be limited to only ten countries, and that does not include the UK or the US.
Alternatively, Apex Legends Mobile for Android and iOS will be available in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, and Colombia.
The UK and US release date is largely dependent on the success of the limited release in the above countries.
Developer Respawn doesn’t offer much, only that it will share additional information soon.
Respawn continues, “We will share updates to the global release as soon as we’ve made informed decisions after the limited regional release.”
“If you are in one of the countries participating in the test, pre-registration is already open. We are still actively testing the app around the world and can’t wait for more players to join in the fun when it launches!”
In terms of content, Apex Legends Mobile will launch with a limited number of characters, including Bloodhound, Gibraltar, Lifeline, Wraith, Bangalore, Octane, Mirage, Pathfinder, and Caustic.
Needless to say, the mobile version won’t support cross-play with consoles or PC, at least not at launch.
Apparently, this will not change in the future, as the game is designed specifically for smartphones: “Apex Legends Mobile is designed specifically for mobile devices, so it will not be played with the console or PC versions of Apex Legends.
Similarly, the developer of Apex Legends does not recommend downloading the game through third-party websites.
“In our next test, the game will be available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Please note that the game should not be downloaded via any third party website or via direct APK file download.”
If you live in one of the participating countries or want to play Apex Legends Mobile when it launches in the UK, Respawn has also released a list of compatible devices/specs.
Notably, the unsupported devices in the limited region test are iOS devices with less than 2 GB of RAM and Android devices with less than 3 GB of RAM.
We will be able to support Android devices with 2GB RAM from the following brands… Vivo, Oppo, Huawei, Motorola, Samsung, Lenovo, Xiaomi.
To work on Android, you need a phone with Android 8.1, Open GL 3.0 or higher, and 3 GB of free space.
For iOS devices, you need iPhone 6S or later, OS 10.0 processor, A9, 3 GB or more free space and at least 2 GB RAM.
