UK plans to deport migrants to Rwanda ‘illegal’

oh The British government’s controversial plan to deport some asylum seekers to Rwanda was “unlawful”, the Court of Appeal in London ruled this Thursday.

The decision by a three-judge panel overturns an earlier version that called the African country the “third safest country” for sending refugees, CNN International reveals.

“Until the ruling that Rwanda is a safe third country is reversed and the deficiencies in its asylum procedures are remedied, the deportation of asylum seekers is illegal,” the judge said.

The British Home Office can now appeal to the Supreme Court to reverse the situation.

The bill, introduced by Rishi Sunak’s conservative government, would see people who entered the country illegally arrested and quickly sent back to their home country, if deemed safe, or to a third country, such as Rwanda, which made a lot of sense. Controversial.
