    The Federal Senate approved, on Tuesday (23), the names of the government-appointed ambassadors of the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, Cuba and Israel.

    The names will be sent to the Presidency of the Republic to be officially named in the Official Gazette.

    • Antonio Patriota, Ambassador to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland
    • Cristian Vargas on behalf of the Cuban Ambassador
    • Frederico Salomao Duke Estrada Meyer, Ambassador to Israel

    Appointed to the post by Lula’s government in London, Antonio Patriota, 69, was Brazil’s ambassador to the United States between 2007 and 2009, when the Workers’ Party was president.

    He also headed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs between 2011 and 2013, in the government of Dilma Rousseff, and in the following years, he served as Brazil’s representative to the United Nations (UN) and the country’s ambassador to Italy and Egypt.

    Cristian Vargas, on the other hand, is 55 years old and is currently the Director of the Regional Integration Department at the Secretariat for Latin America and the Caribbean in Itamaraty. He worked in the Brazilian embassies in the United States and Russia.

    During the Bolsonaro government, Vargas was promoted to Minister of the First Class, held the position of Head of the Special Advisory Service for International Relations in the Ministry of Mines and Energy, and at the end of the government was appointed to the position of General Coordinator of the Cabinet. General Coordination of the Organization of American States (OAS).

    The third authorized name, Frederico Salomao Duque Estrada Meyer, is 70 years old, and was already the head of Brazilian diplomacy in Kazakhstan and Morocco. during Labor governments.

    Meyer has also served in diplomatic missions in Iraq, Switzerland, Cuba, Guyana, Russia and the United Nations.
