Three weeks after experiencing the sanctions of European countries, the Russian oligarch Mikhail Friedman said in an interview that he did not know how to survive. Information from the US portal Bloomberg.

With a net worth of US $ 10.1 billion, according to Bloomberg Billionaires Code, The oligarchy was ratified by the European Union on 28 February and by the United Kingdom on 15 March. He described the EU sanctions at the time as “unfounded and unjustified” and said he would challenge them.

The portal reports that Friedman’s wealth has shrunk by $ 4 billion since the start of the Ukraine invasion. “I don’t know how to survive,” Friedman said. “I do not know. I do not really know.”

Friedman is a co-founder of LetterOne, a London-based investment firm, and a former board member of Alfa-Bank, a banking firm. But now the millionaire, who lives in the United Kingdom, is receiving an allowance of 2,500 (R $ 16,695) and will have to apply to the British government for permission to spend the money.

One day after the EU sanctions, Friedman resigned from the board of Alpha-Bank and left the board of directors of LetterOne, the investment firm he co – founded.

Friedman said he thought he had good relations with the West because of his travels to Washington and the Alpha-Bank scholarship program he created in 2004 for American, British and German citizens.

“We truly believe we are good friends with the Western world, so we can not be punished.” He said Bloomberg.

Friedman was one of several Russians targeted by Western sanctions aimed at paralyzing Russia’s economy and punishing President Vladimir Putin for invading Ukraine.
