The Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, deepened dialogues with international authorities and agents on Wednesday (12/10), the second day of the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group (International Monetary Fund annual meetings of the World Bank), in Washington (USA). Future prospects, financial sustainability, regulatory frameworks and reviews conducted to stimulate investments in natural gas, oil, telecommunications, 5G, airport concessions and privatization were the main topics discussed.

The agenda in the US capital on Wednesday included three official appointments: a conference on the topic “Brazil’s Economic Prospects: Sustainable Growth and Investment” (Outlook for the Brazilian economy: sustainable growth and investment); The Department of Brazil at a ministerial dinner for the International Monetary Fund and the Group of Twenty.

In the debate on “Brazil’s Economic Prospects: Sustainable Growth and Investment”, promoted by JPMorgan, Guedes spoke of the good moment for the Brazilian economy, GDP growth, and larger downturns from countries such as the United Kingdom and Germany. He said the world is slowing down, but Brazil is on the right track, ready to “take off”.

The lecture was accompanied by representatives of a number of North American banks and financial institutions. Guedes reported that North American businessmen were surprised by the Brazilian economic data presented during the meeting, with the consequent improvement in the revisions to GDP growth.

The Minister also presented the budget of the results of the Brazilian economic program and affirmed his commitment to the agenda of reform and modernization of the economy. “We are doing very well.
