Javier Miley won the elections in Argentina with 55% of the vote

On Thursday (23), in Plaza de Mayo, the Movement of Mothers and Grandmothers carried out its first action against the elected Argentine president, Javier Miley. The demonstration was organized in Buenos Aires, less than a week before the ultra-liberal elections.

The group was able to gather hundreds of people in the central area of the Argentine capital, who participated in the march. Mäes e Avós da Praça de Maio was founded 46 years ago, when the children and grandchildren of the founders were victims of the civil-military dictatorship (1976-1983). They would meet every Thursday, at around 3:30 in the afternoon, as a way to remember their loved ones, and fight for memory, truth and justice.

In addition to the aforementioned group, other organizations participated in the event. The demonstrators chanted phrases such as: “We have defeated a colonial political project,” “Let’s start building resistance,” and “We can’t wait. We can’t see if Miley is doing well.”

The group said on social media that it was “on alert and alert.” “In the face of the publicly denied victory of the political sector, we invite you to follow the tour of the Mothers of Brasa de Mayo today at 3:30 p.m.,” the post read.

It is worth noting that Miley actually downplayed state crimes during the period of military rule, even saying that during the dictatorship “excesses were committed.” The organizations associated with the meeting of memory, truth and justice called on their members to participate in the march.
