    The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has surpassed 60 million unit sales, becoming the seventh best-selling game of all time. The information was revealed by Bethesda director and executive producer, Todd Howard, during an interview about the greatness of Starfield, the company’s next big RPG. When new sales data for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is confirmed, the RPG has surpassed classic Super Mario Bros. With 58 million, but it follows Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and 62 million.

    In the interview about the number of different worlds in Starfield for the games website IGNTodd Howard casually remarked, “Here we are, 12 years after Skyrim, looking at a game that has sold over 60 million copies.” In the same interview, the director, 52, also commented that the long-awaited The Elder Scrolls 6 could be his last project, as Bethesda is taking time to develop their titles. “If you do the math, I’m not getting any younger,” Howard said.

    A new confirmed sales figure indicates that The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim has sold 30 million copies in just the last 7 years. The game, which originally launched in 2011 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, had already sold 30 million units by 2016, according to Bethesda. Since then, the game has received remastered versions for more consoles such as PlayStation 5 (PS5), Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 4 (PS4), and Xbox One, including a new Anniversary Edition in 2021, which is for Nintendo Switch in 2018 and one in VR in 2018.

    For comparison purposes, it remained the best-selling game of all time selling over 238 million units, followed by GTA 5 (Grand Theft Auto V) with 180 million and Tetris with 100 million. The last placements for some time have a tie between Overwatch and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt with 50 million each. Check out the full list below and their estimated sales figures.
