Scientists say they are on the verge of discovering the ‘fifth force of nature’

A team of scientists think they’re close to finding the fifth force of nature. According to recent data, this will be done through tests with muons (elements similar to electrons).

According to physicists from the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab), in the US, muons behave differently from the Standard Model of particle physics. So it is suggested that an “unknown force” is at work.

There are four fundamental forces that “govern” the way objects and particles in the universe interact with each other. To date, there are the following categories:

  1. gravity;
  2. Electromagnetism.
  3. Strong nuclear power it is
  4. Weak nuclear power.

In an experiment called “g minus 2 (g-2)”, scientists accelerate muon particles, which have 200 times the mass of electrons and have a diameter of about 15 meters.

In the test loop, the experts “surrounded” the elements about a thousand times, almost at the speed of light.

And the BBC quoted one of the researchers as saying: “We are already exploring new areas.” “We’re taking measurements more accurately than ever before.”

During the experiment, the physicists also made the muons oscillate, with the help of powerful superconducting magnets.

Scientists have discovered that it oscillates much faster than it should. Moreover, additional studies will be required to confirm the results obtained. If these data are confirmed, it will be a real “revolution in modern physics.”
