Amazon Prime Video has announced that two exclusive documentaries focused on UK sports stars will hit the platform by 2022. Productions are rune, about soccer player Wayne Rooney, and The Lioness: The Nicola Adams StoryAbout the British Boxing Champion.
The documentaries were announced at a sporting event in London, which included a question-and-answer session with Wayne Rooney and Nicola Adams, along with production directors. Both new content are part of the Prime Video initiative to make more sports content available on the platform. In Brazil, in addition to the Brazilian championship matches from the premiere, documentaries such as This is Pele, About the King of Football, part of the same programme.
Both producers will feature interviews with people close to the athletes and show the challenges stars face in reaching the status of legends they currently occupy in their respective sports.

The Lioness: The Nicola Adams Story, will tell the trajectory of the two-time Olympic boxing gold medalist and her battle against sexism, racism and homophobia. The documentary is directed by Helena Kwan, and will include interviews with Adams’ girlfriend, Ella Page, as well as several opponents from the hero’s path.
