PayPal distributes a R$50 voucher, but takes it back; understand

On Thursday (16), the internet went viral with the distribution of a R$50 voucher by PayPal – Simply click on an active account link and that’s it, the discount will be applied to any purchase with a total value starting from 51 BRL. However, the party lasted a few hours, as on the same day users reported that the promotional value was removed from the digital wallets without any warning or tracking.

Whoever used it, but whoever did not use the coupon will not use it anymore. The promotional value withdrawal surprised many people, when redeeming the coupon, the user was informed that they can use it anytime until December 31.

Anyone who manages access to the $50 PayPal distribution link can no longer see the “Save Offer” button – instead, the platform informs you that “this offer is no longer available.” Those who previously redeemed and did not purchase anything at the discount should not even find a trace of value in their wallet.

Everything according to the rules

While PayPal seems to have pulled the rug out from under everyone without permission, everything is in line with the promotion’s terms and conditions. There, the platform makes it clear that the promotion can be changed at any time and without notice – which it actually did. No one who read the document was surprised to find the news.

The rules state that the receipt can be used until December 31, that the PayPal account holder will have access to the resource and that each person can only get the benefit once – that is, on one account. In the end, it is clear that PayPal followed its own rules.

“Paypal reserves the right to withdraw the offer and/or change any part of the offer or the terms and conditions of the offer at any time without notice,” the platform states. “Paypal’s decisions on all matters relating to the Offer and these Terms and Conditions will be final and binding,” he adds.

Why is my PayPal voucher gone?

It is not known exactly what made PayPal withdraw the coupon from circulation, even for those who have already redeemed. It is suspected that the move occurred due to a widespread violation of the terms and conditions, whereby malicious users were getting a refund on multiple accounts.

Then, to contain the damage, the platform would have dropped the entire show – both from the rescuer (which includes those who broke the rules) and from those not yet rescued. However, there is still no confirmation that this was in fact the reason for the suspension of the promotion.

is back (or about to)

But on Friday morning (17) the show is available again, but not for everyone. In a new promotional link, some users were able to redeem a new voucher worth R$50, while a large part of it was taken away.

What does Paypal say?

to me CanaltechPayPal confirmed that the campaign was canceled and explained why. “Paypal has found a flaw in the above coupon campaign that affected some customers yesterday (16) and is investigating the issue. This campaign is only available to eligible customers who have received emails,” the company’s statement said.
