The Hospital de Olhos de Londrina (Hoftalon) has received an honor from the Legislative Assembly of Paraná for its 30 years of service to the population, which has been consolidated as the main ophthalmological center of Paraná and one of the most modern in Brazil. State Deputy Tercilio Turini (PSD) presented congratulatory votes and an honorary diploma to Director Nobuaki Hasegawa, who, together with his wife Regina, founded the unit that today has become a reference in highly complex ophthalmology and has advanced technology for the diagnosis, treatment and treatment of various vision-related diseases.

In the motion, also signed by MPs Cobra Reporter and Thiago Amaral, both from the PSD, Turenni highlights that Hoftalon currently brings together the largest number of ophthalmologists in the country: there are more than 130 specialists in the region, as well as occupational physicians, general practitioners and anesthesiologists. Cardiologists, infection specialists, neurologists, and pediatricians. In 2021 alone, it has added more than 100,000 consultations, 40,000 tests and nearly 10,000 surgeries. The institution serves about 120 municipalities through the SUS that are part of the health regions of Apucarana, Cornélio Procópio, Ivaiporã, Jacarezinho and Londrina.

Members report that Hooftalon brings together stories that will change lives. “The dream began to take shape in 1992 when spouses Nobuaki and Regina founded the hospital with the goal of providing the best medicine to people. It is a path of hard work, compassion and willpower to help those who need it most. There have been many challenges and overcomings, and the joy and satisfaction of saving new heights” , as they announced. The 30th anniversary was celebrated on December 9th.

In addition to maintaining a health plan and research center, since 2016 Hoftalon has become the first Brazilian unit to join the World Association of Eye Hospitals, which brings together ophthalmic centers of excellence in the United States, Australia, Sweden, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and China among others. In 2004, she created the medical residency program, which is authorized by the Ministry of Education, and in 2012 the specialty course was accredited by the Brazilian Board of Ophthalmology.

“It is an exemplary public health history built with sincerity, passion, and competence by the founders Regina and Nobuaki Hasegawa, other family members, and the entire team. They are professionals committed to life, with the nobility of preventing and treating eye-related diseases. A more than due honor to Hooftalon, as well as an act of gratitude from the Legislative Assembly for Paraná “, confirms state deputy Tercilio Turini, together with his colleagues Cobra Reporter and Thiago Amaral.
