It will also be the first time that Wrexham, a team from Wales, has played its pre-season outside the UK. Coach Phil Parkinson expressed concern about the opportunity and commented on the Manchester United match in San Diego, California.

We look forward to being able to play in the United States for the first time in the club’s history. The tour will be an excellent opportunity to prepare for the 2023/24 season and the Manchester United game will be a competitive game and a good test for us as we look forward to the new campaign. We enjoy hosting American fans at the track and look forward to being able to play in front of some of these new fans on US soil this summer.”

Wrexham were bought by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in November 2020. The events of the club’s purchase are documented in the TV series “Welcome to Wrexham”, which premiered in August 2022.
