President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) met with representatives from Russia and Ukraine on Saturday (31), the day before his inauguration. Baptista posted a picture of the meeting on social media and said Brazil would work for peace.

The meeting was attended by the Speaker of the Russian Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko, who came to the country as a representative of Russian President Vladimir Putin. and Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svirenko, representative of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

“I thanked Putin for the greetings I extended to her and expressed Brazil’s desire for peace and for the parties to find a common point to end the conflict,” the president-elect wrote of the meeting with Valentina Matvienko.

“I received from Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svirenko greetings from the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and a report on the country. In Brazil, we have a tradition of defending the integrity of states and we will talk to everyone who is possible for peace,” Lula shared.

From ambassadors to presidents, representatives from nearly 120 countries will be at the Labor Party’s inauguration on Sunday (1).

At least 65 foreign delegations of heads and deputy heads of states, governments and authorities, as well as foreign ministers and special envoys, have already confirmed their attendance. The number of authorities exceeds the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

The President of Mexico, Manuel López Obrador, will send the first lady, Beatriz Gutierrez Mueller. The Vice-Presidents of China, Cuba, El Salvador and Panama confirmed their attendance.

The accredited heads of government are from the Republic of Guinea, Mali, Morocco and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Also in Brasilia will be the deputy prime ministers of Azerbaijan and Ukraine, the presidents of the Federation Council (Russia), the National People’s Assembly (Algeria), the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Iran), and the Senate and National Assembly (Dominican Republic). Republic), the Assembly of the Republic (Mozambique), the Senate of Jamaica and Equatorial Guinea, and the National Parliament (Serbia).
